Overview of the Firewall Client - Picture Style

One of the most useful components of an ISA or TMG firewall solution is the firewall client. Named the “Winsock Proxy Client” in ancient versions of the ISA and TMG firewall, the Firewall client enables you to remote winsock application calls to the firewall and then the firewall handles the connection on behalf of the client applications.

The Firewall client is essentially an application agnostic SOCKS client, which takes away the need to configure each application to work a SOCKS proxy and allows the winsock calls to be forwarded automatically.
