Requesting ISA Server Certificates from a Windows Server 2008 Certificate Authority

image I don’t remember if I shared this one with you guys before, but I thought I’d share it even if I did when this article first came out. Why? Because trying to request a certificate using Windows 2008 can really put you in a world of hurt if you expect the easy, breezy Windows 2003 certificate request experience.

Yep, easy-breezy is definitely not the experience :)

So, how should you deal with certificate requests in Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2?

There is no one answer. There are a lot of answers though. Probably the best answer is provided by TMG firewall MVP Jason Jones in the blog post over at:

http://blog.msfirewall.org.uk/2009/07/requesting-i...m.html

Give Jason’s method a try. Even if you’re repulsed by the command line, I think that this is something you should put in the toolkit. You’ll end up on the winning end if you do.

HTH,

Tom
