TMG Firewall Now Available with Official Launch of Essential Business Server (EBS)
That’s right! The TMG firewall is now available to the general public in RTM form. You don’t have to use the beta any longer. The Microsoft Essential Business Server (EBS) suite of server products was released last week and the TMG firewall was at the forefront (!) of the offering.
For more information about EBS, check out the EBS Web site at:
http://www.microsoft.com/ebs/en/us/default.aspx

The release of the EBS TMG is a big step forward for the ISA firewall product line. While the ISA firewall brand name is gone, the features and technologies that comprised the ISA firewall continue to advance with the TMG firewall. The Forefront TMG firewall greatly expands the firewall’s ability to act as a UTM or Unified Threat Management device, with tightly integrated anti-malware capabilities built right into the product.
You’ll find that moving forward, this tight integration will provide an even more compelling solution. I can’t give you all the details now, but rest assured that the Forefront TMG firewall will continue to evolve to be one of the best and most comprehensive application layer inspection firewall’s on the market.

Tom

Does this mean you can use the TMG EBS installation DVD to install TMG MBE?

Hi Dennis,
No, you’ll still need to buy a separate version of TMG. While the product is essentially the same, the DVD included with EBS must be used as part of a EBS deployment.

Tom
