Don’t Forget the ISA 2006 Supportability Update
I was showing a friend of mine my ISA 2006 firewall setup and configuration and he wanted to know why I had additional information appear in my log files and additional nodes in the left pane of the console. I told him you get those things when you install the ISA 2006 Supportability Update!
What you do get with the ISA 2006 Supportability Update? Check this out:
- All software updates issued since ISA Server 2006 was released to manufacturing.
- Improved log viewer functionality, including an enhanced details pane view, text coloring, and new log filtering functionality.
- Updated ISA Server Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in functionality that provides access to troubleshooting tools and options available directly from the ISA Server Management console.
- Integration with the Microsoft ISA Server Best Practices Analyzer Tool. For more information, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=79754.
- New diagnostic logging functionality.

Hi
I am working in a small company. My boss wants me to install ISA 2006 on domain controller because also domain is small and it does not have a really big load and he does not want to waste another pc. I installed ISA 2006 on dc with both options of firewall services and configuration storage server. Installation gave no error but I can’t install Supportability Update. It gives error about registering with filters. I know this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924146 but it did not help me yet. Article is for ISA 2004 and I have ISA 2006. I tried to reinstall ISA but nothing changed. Article tells to remove 3rd party filters, install the update and then reinstall the removed filters. I want to try this way but I could not remove the filters except the ones in the article.
Can someone help me anyway?
Thanks

I hate to say it, but ISA is not supported on DCs. This is an official Microsoft position.
