New Chief Technology Officer of Network Engines Named to Bring Appliances to New Markets Worldwide

Network Engines, Inc. (NASDAQ: NENG), a leading appliance partner for Microsoft(R) security solutions, today announced the appointment of Kevin Murphy to the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective immediately. Murphy previously held the role of Chief Architect for Network Engines and will report directly to President and CEO Greg Shortell, to continue making Network Engines the dominant appliance company.

As CTO, Murphy will formulate the technology vision for Network Engines and oversee its practical application in all product
development efforts. His primary focus will be to combine security, storage and third-party applications on appliance platforms to meet customer needs for integrated multifunction solutions in new markets. Initiatives that Murphy will lead will expand the capabilities of the company’s line of NS Series(TM) Security Appliances, a family of multi-layer security platforms that provide defense-in-depth protection for an organization’s Microsoft-based messaging, collaboration, and web-facing network infrastructure.
