Ethereal® is now Wireshark™

The world’s most popular network protocol analyzer Ethereal has a new home and has changed its name to Wireshark!

Gerald Combs, the creator of the Ethereal® network protocol analyzer, has accepted a position with CACE Technologies. CACE is best known for the popular WinPcap packet capture library.

The site http://www.wireshark.org/ is the new home of the project. The name might be new, but the software is the same. Wireshark’s powerful features make it the tool of choice for network troubleshooting, protocol development, and education worldwide. Read the press release.
